Rocky Raccoon 50 Mile Race

By Admin |  January 21, 2014

Two Russell Investments associates are setting out to run the Rocky Raccoon 50 mile race in Huntsville, TX on February 8, 2014. Alex Montoya and Paul Izzo have decided to make this more than just 50 mile run through Texas. In fact they have decided to run this race in support of orphans. To this end Alex and Paul are looking for your support as they run the Rocky Raccoon to help raise money for SowingRoots.

Alex and Paul are fresh off of completing the New York City Marathon this past fall and most recently ran the Houston Marathon. So thankful for their commitment to pounding the pavement for orphans. Help support them mile-for-mile with a donation to SowingRoots.

Note from Alex:

I am very excited to be running the Rocky Raccoon 50 for SowingRoots.  The struggle that orphans around the world face and the financial burdens on those who would like to adopt is something I hope to be able to help ameliorate.  My nieces, Meredith (adopted from China) and Annabelle (adopted from Indonesia) are two examples to me of how much joy and love they can bring a family.  Running 50 miles will be that much easier if I am thinking that each step is brining a family closer to being able to adopt a child.  I am also very happy to be sharing the experience and cause with my friend and fellow runner Paul Izzo.

Note from Paul:

I have been looking to run for an organization for some time.  Sowing Roots embodies the spirit of the running community.  While I am running the grueling test of 50 miles, I will think about the struggle orphaned children go through each day.  It is amazing to think how my continued running, as well as many others’, will help this wonderful cause.

Please consider sponsoring Alex and Paul as they compete in the Rocky Raccoon 50 miler, and more importantly your sponsorship will help change the life of an orphan – together, one step at a time and one child at a time.
